About these terms
These terms apply to surveys, quotes and installation work carried out by Steelcity Skylights Sheffield ("we", "us") for customers ("you"). They form part of the contract between us, together with your written quote. If anything in the written quote differs from these terms, the written quote takes priority for that job.

Surveys and quotes
- Surveys are free and place you under no obligation.
- After the survey we send a fixed written quote. It describes the work, the unit, the making good included and the payment stages, and carries a life plan for the unit.
- The quoted price is fixed for the work described. It changes only if the work changes, as set out below.
- A quote is valid for the period stated on it. After that, we may need to check product prices and availability before confirming it.
Making the contract
A contract is formed when you accept our written quote, in writing, by email or by signing it. If you accept the quote at your home or anywhere other than business premises, or by phone, email or online, you have the cancellation rights set out below.
Your right to cancel
Under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013, if you are a consumer and the contract was made away from business premises or at a distance, you have the right to cancel within 14 days without giving any reason. The 14 days start on the day after the contract is made.
- To cancel, tell us clearly in writing, by email or letter, or by phone, before the 14 days run out. You may use the model cancellation form we provide with the quote, but you do not have to.
- If you cancel in time, we refund any payment you have made within 14 days of being told, using the same payment method unless we agree otherwise.
- We will not start work or order your unit during the cancellation period unless you ask us to in writing. If you do ask us to start, and then cancel within the 14 days, you will have to pay a fair amount for the work done and the costs incurred up to the point you tell us, which may include a unit made to order to your measurements.
- If you asked us to start within the 14 days and confirmed you understood the right would end, it ends once the work is fully completed.
Changes to the work
If you ask for extra work or a different product, we agree the change and any change in price with you in writing before doing it. If opening the roof uncovers something that could not reasonably be seen at the survey, such as rotten timbers or a hidden structural defect, we stop, show you, and agree how to proceed and any extra cost in writing before going further.
What we do
- We carry out the work with reasonable care and skill, as required by the Consumer Rights Act 2015, and fit to current Building Regulations.
- Where the work is notifiable under the Building Regulations, we handle the Building Control notification.
- We supply products that are of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose and as described.
- We agree start dates with you and tell you promptly if anything outside our control, such as weather or a supplier delay, affects them.
- We protect your home while we work, take away our waste, and leave the work area clean.
What we ask of you
- Give us safe access to the property and the work area on the agreed dates, and clear the room below the work of furniture and belongings where we ask.
- Tell us about anything you know that affects the work, such as previous roof problems, asbestos, or whether the house is listed or in a conservation area.
- Obtain any permission you are responsible for, such as planning permission, listed building consent or landlord or freeholder consent, unless the quote says we will deal with it.
- Provide electricity and water for the work where needed.
Payment
Payment stages are set out in your written quote. Invoices are payable within the time stated on them. Ownership of the products passes to you when they have been paid for in full.
Guarantees and warranties
Our work carries our 10-year workmanship guarantee, as set out on our guarantee page. Products are covered by their manufacturers' own warranties. Both are in addition to your statutory rights, which are not affected.
If something goes wrong
If the work is not carried out with reasonable care and skill, or a product is faulty, your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 include asking us to put it right, and where that cannot be done within a reasonable time or without significant inconvenience, a price reduction or, for goods, a refund. Please tell us as soon as you notice a problem.
Our liability
We are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of our breaking this contract or failing to use reasonable care and skill. We are not responsible for loss that was not foreseeable when the contract was made. Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited by law. We supply our services for domestic and private use. For commercial customers, the quote may set out different terms on liability.
Events outside our control
We are not responsible for delays caused by events outside our reasonable control, such as severe weather, supplier failure or illness. We will tell you as soon as possible and agree a new date. If the delay is long, you may cancel and receive a refund for work not yet done.
Complaints
If you are unhappy with any part of our work, please follow our complaints procedure.
Law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland you may also bring proceedings in your local courts.
These terms were last updated on 14 October 2026.
